The Juanita Buchanan Undergraduate Academic Scholarship is in memory of a very devoted member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Kappa Zeta Chapter. During her life she belonged to many organizations and volunteered her services wherever needed. The Kappa Zeta chapter elected to set up a scholarship fund for collegians to honor her memory to our chapter.

Purpose

The scholarship is to be awarded to a high school senior receiving dual college credit or an undergraduate matriculating at an accredited Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex college or university.

Award

The winner will be selected on the documentation and recommendations submitted and an interview.  The winner will be honored in Spring 2023.

Eligibility

  • Must be a high school senior receiving dual college credit (minimum of 6 hours) or an undergraduate matriculating at an accredited Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex college or university (2 or 4 year)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85
  • Must be involved in community service and/or organized campus activities​
  • Must be a DFW resident.

Application

  1. Complete the application for this scholarship.
  2. Then scan the following documents:
    • Digital photo (headshot)  in JPEG or PNG format
    • Official high school transcript with rank and unweighted GPA (4.0 scale)
    • One letter of recommendation from one of the following:  Community Leader or Volunteer Agency Representative
    • One letter of recommendation from one of the following: College Professor, Administrator, or Campus Organization Adviser (Recommendations should be addressed to the Scholarship Committee of Kappa Zeta with a signature and contact information.)
    • In 500 words or less, based on your future profession, how do you plan on impacting the world?
    • Documentation of volunteer hours, awards, etc. with dates of activities and total hours calculated
  3. Attach and send documents to Scholarship Committee:
