About the $7,500 Scholarship

Shred Nations and Record Nations are Colorado based companies dedicated to promoting economic success of businesses in the shredding and secure destruction or management industries.  As a member of i-SIGMA, Shred Nations and Record Nations recognizes the benefits of continuing higher education for those individuals interested in business, environmental responsibility and making future contributions to the community.  Both companies support the independent shredding and document management industry and believe in giving back to those providers by offering a scholarship to students seeking higher education.

The Shred Nations and Record Nations Scholarship is an annual award of up to $7,500 to offset the costs of higher education. The scholarship award may be divided into two separate payments to be paid directly to the applicant’s chosen institution of higher education, which must be an accredited university, college or trade school.

All applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria, and such other considerations as the Selection Committee determines are meritorious to the purposes of the scholarship.

Academic Merit:

The selection committee will analyze the scholar’s academic achievement and rigor including high school and college/university transcripts, honors and awards.

The scholar’s character will be evaluated based upon the recommendation of an i-SIGMA member owner/executive. In addition, the scholar’s extracurricular activities and merits related to those activities will be examined.

Contribution to Document Management or Destruction Industry:

The scholar should demonstrate through a 500 – 1,000-word essay OR a 60-second video detail how you can use your studies to improve business, environmental responsibility and make future contributions to the community including interest in the secure management or destruction industry and demonstrate what value you can provide to a potential company that is hiring.

The scholarship will be awarded at the i-SIGMA Annual Conference for the academic year beginning in the fall of the year of the award. For example, if the scholarship is awarded at the 2024 i-SIGMA annual conference, it will apply to the 2024-2025 school year. Summer applies to the school year before and not the school year after.
