AAUW Atlanta (GA) Scholarship

AAUW (American Association of University Women) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. Founded in 1881, AAUW is the oldest and largest national organization working for the advancement of women. The Atlanta Branch of AAUW was founded in 1905. AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. Membership is open to graduates holding an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate, or higher degree.

The AAUW scholarship award is intended to be used for supplemental expenses such as books, fees, child care, or transportation. Funds for the local Atlanta area AAUW awards have been raised for more than 50 years through our annual AAUW Bookfair held every fall.

1. Apply for financial aid at your college or university for Fall.

2. Review these criteria for the AAUW award. All applications will be considered but preference is given to women who are:

a) At least 30 years of age.

b) Residents of Georgia enrolled in one of the following Metro Atlanta institutions that are National Partners of AAUW:

Agnes Scott College
Atlanta Metropolitan College
Clark Atlanta University
Emory University
Georgia Institute of Technology
Georgia Perimeter College
Georgia State University
Oglethorpe University
Savannah College of Art and Design

c) Returning to school to complete a bachelor's degree.

d) College junior or senior in Fall (full or part time).

e) Seeking funds for supplemental expenses (e.g., books, fees, childcare, transportation). Tuition funds may be covered from other sources.

f) In good academic standing.

g) Applicants majoring in all academic fields are encouraged to apply. Those majoring in any of the following programs will be given additional consideration: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and other non-traditional majors, as well as Education and Nursing.

h) Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit, financial need and community involvement.
