Ohio CattleWomen Foundation Scholarships

Up to four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to outstanding college students based on the following criteria on the application. Return the completed application form including a picture, letters of recommendation, and transcript by December 15. 

A. Procedures

  1. Ohio CattleWomen’s Association Scholarships will be awarded annually or at the discretion of the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association.
  2. Ohio CattleWomen’s Association Scholarships will consist of up to four $1,000.00 scholarships.

B. Criteria

  1. Applicant must be the child of a beef producer or be directly engaged themselves in the production or promotion of beef.
  2. Parent and/or applicant must be a member of a local and/or state beef organization.
  3. Applicant and parents must be Ohio residents.
  4. Applicant must be out of high school at least one full year in order to apply for the OCW Scholarship.
  5. Applicant must be currently in their second year of college or above in a four-year program when applying to be eligible to receive the scholarship. Priority will be given to applicants attending a school in Ohio.
  6. Applicant may receive the OCW Scholarship no more than two times.
  7. Applicant may be male or female.
  8. Applicant’s major may vary; however, preference will be given to a major in agriculture, specifically relating to beef.
  9. Applicant must be maintaining a 2.5 or higher grade point average.

C. Method of Application

  1. Application forms are available upon request from Connie O’Connell at (614) 264-0914, 4180 Millersburg Rd, Gambier, OH 43022 or on the CattleWomen’s website at www.ohiocattlewomen.com
  2. Application form must be completed and postmarked to Connie O’Connell at the above address by December 15.
  3. Official current college transcript must be postmarked to the same address by December 15.
  4. Applicant may submit no more than three current Letters of Recommendation for this scholarship from outside sources to the above address which will be used, if needed, to evaluate the applicant by the Scholarship Committee postmarked by December 15.
  5. Submit a picture along with the scholarship application.
  6. All documents (application, letters of recommendation(optional), transcript, and picture) are to be sent together by the applicant to the above address.

D. Selection Process

  1. The OCW Scholarship Committee will be appointed by the president of the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association.
  2. The OCW Scholarship Committee will review all applications and will have the option to interview applicants if needed.
  3. Selection of the scholarship recipients will be announced during the Ohio Cattlemen’s Annual Meeting in January.

E. Method of Distribution

The Ohio CattleWomen’s Scholarship check will be made payable to the scholarship recipient and presented during the Ohio Cattlemen’s Annual Meeting in January.
