The Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, in conjunction with generous partners, is proud to award over $15,000 a year to outstanding young Arkansans.

Young-Baker Scholarships

The Arkansas Cattlemen’s Foundation, Inc. (ACF) has announced plans to award the 2024 Young-Baker Scholarships ($4,000). To qualify for an award, applicants must: Fill out required forms (do not send reference letters), be an Arkansas resident, be a full-time college student classified as a junior or senior with at least 60 hours credit completed by the end of the spring 2024 semester, have a college grade point average of 2.5 based on a 4.0 scale and be planning a career in or related to the cattle industry.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, individual character, career plans and leadership potential. Preference may be given to Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association (ACA) members or children and grandchildren of ACA members. The recipient will be notified in writing and payment will be made directly to the college the student is attending. The scholarships will be awarded in two installments of $1,000 per semester.

Howard Young and Frank Baker were instrumental in establishing the ACF and securing a home for the ACA and a learning center for the youth of Arkansas. The late Mr. Young, as Executive Vice President of the ACA, provided the roots for continued growth of the association. The late Dr. Baker provided professional input that helped create the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Foundation Learning and Heritage Center. Both Young and Baker worked closely together for the benefit of Arkansas cattlemen.

Jack Perry Food Animal Veterinary Medicine Scholarship & Janet Perry Agriculture Communications Scholarship

Jack and Janet Perry were instrumental in the founding of the ACA and ACF. Jack served as ACA President. The Perry Scholarships were founded to encourage talented young people to pursue careers in veterinary medicine or agriculture communications.

The Jack Perry Veterinary Scholarship is awarded to a student accepted to an accredited US Veterinary School for the fall semester in odd years. The Janet Perry Agriculture Communications Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student entering his/her junior or senior year in college, having completed at least 60 hours college credit and planning a career focused in agriculture communications. The Agriculture Communications Scholarship is intended to be awarded for the fall semester of even years. In order to ensure an adequate application pool, the ACF invites students to apply for either scholarship in 2024. Priority, however, will be given to the agriculture communications scholarships in even years whereas the veterinary medicine application will be the priority in odd years. If no scholarship applications are received in their respective year, the other scholarship will be awarded.
