The South Florida Fair & Palm Beach County Expositions, Inc. is proud to annually award over $80,000 in scholarships to students who have exhibited a desire to further their education. Our purpose is to encourage young people, who might not otherwise have an opportunity, to pursue further education through an accredited college, university or trade school.
Please arrange the application attachments in the following order:
- Completed Application Form. Must be signed by applicant and parent/guardian, or digital signature. Must be legible. Attaching a resume is not acceptable.
- Essay topic in 200 words or less: "Describe something about which you are passionate. How did you learn more about it and what was it that motivated you to pursue it?"
- Two Letters of Recommendation.
- High School Transcript.
To be eligible, the student must have completed his/her junior year in high school, be a permanent resident of Florida and reside in one of the following counties: Broward, Hendry, Martin, Okeechobee or Palm Beach.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
- The applicant must have completed their junior year in high school, be a permanent resident of Florida, and reside in one of the following counties: Broward, Hendry, Martin, Okeechobee or Palm Beach.
- Additional credit will be given if the applicant is, or has been, a participant in the South Florida Fair’s activities. Activities may consist of judging events, exhibits, livestock and agriculture activities, volunteering or any other fair related activity.
- Membership in 4-H or FFA is NOT required.
- The awards will be presented during the annual South Florida Fair in January.
- The scholarship must be used at, and must be paid to, an accredited college, university, or trade school. It will not be paid to the applicant.
- The selection committee requires a personal interview with the applicant.
- Advertising and promotional agencies, sponsors, Trustees, Directors, staff of the South Florida Fair and their immediate family members, and/or those living in the same household, are ineligible to apply.
- An essay is required. Those who do not complete the essay will not be eligible for a scholarship. "Describe something about which you are passionate. How did you learn more about it and what was it that motivated you to pursue it?" (200 words or less).
- Two letters of recommendation are required.
- High School Transcript is required.
