The Award Programs are sponsored to provide scholarship assistance to students from South Carolina Farm Bureau(i) farm families or (ii) farm oriented backgrounds, to pursue a higher education in agriculture or agricultural related majors. It is also desired that these scholarship funds will result in the encouragement of students to develop the knowledge and skills to assume positions of leadership in agriculture, civic affairs and public service. Amount to be determined.
These scholarships will be awarded to a college sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in agriculture or an agricultural related major.
These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of character, demonstrated leadership abilities, and dedication to agriculture or related fields. The recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Committee of the South Carolina Farm Bureau Educational Foundation in accordance with guidelines developed by the Foundation's Board of Directors and approved by the Foundation's membership. Incomplete applications will not be considered (including photo).
The current scholarship application judging guidelines are:
A) Scholastic achievement in college – 35 points
B) Agricultural activities, participation and offices held in school and agricultural organizations, and community activities – 25 points
C) Students statement and focus on career in agriculture or agricultural related field – 30 points
D) Letter(s) of recommendation, which should include character references -- 10 points
Application for these scholarships must be made to the South Carolina Farm Bureau Educational Foundation, Post Office Box 754, Columbia, South Carolina 29202, no later than April 30th prior to the beginning of the first semester of the following academic year.
The application form will be sent by email on request. Applications must be typed. The application form may be re-typed, but shall be submitted on the same number of pages as the original forms. All questions must be re-printed in their entirety if the forms are re-typed. The font size must be a minimum of 10 points for all sections.
