The Daneen S. Barbour Graduate Scholarship is for post-graduate studies in careers related to the precast concrete industry

Who Can Apply

Applications are open to any student with an undergraduate degree who will be enrolled in a graduate program at an academic institution for the next academic year following the application deadline. Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s or doctorate program.

Scholarship Honors Drive to Succeed

This scholarship was established in memory of Daneen S. Barbour of Barbour Concrete Company and 1994 recipient of the National Precast Concrete Association’s prestigious Robert E. Yoakum Award of Merit. Daneen was a proponent of higher education for everyone – including industry leaders – through post-graduate work and advanced degrees in areas that complement the precast concrete industry.

What Must Accompany the Completed Application?

To guarantee the application will be reviewed by the NPCA Foundation Board of Directors, please include the following materials:

• A transcript of high school grades and/or college grades (if applicable) through the most recent grading period prior to the date of application.
• A 300 to 500-word essay.
• A letter of recommendation from a member of the high school or college faculty.
• A completed recommendation form from an NPCA member considered to be in good standing. This is required to apply. If you need help finding a sponsor, please contact Andi Pierce at apierce@precast.org.

Who Is Eligible?

Students who are awarded an NPCA Foundation scholarship are eligible to receive $3,500 their first year (paid as $1,750 in the fall semester and $1,750 in the spring semester). Students who complete an internship with an NPCA member of 320 hours or more prior to the start of their second year are eligible to receive $4,500 for that academic year (paid as $2,250 in the fall semester and $2,250 in the spring semester). Students who complete a second internship with an NPCA member of 320 hours or more prior to the start of their third year are eligible to receive $5,500 for that academic year (paid as $2,750 in the fall semester and $2,750 in the spring semester). Students who complete a third internship with an NPCA member of 320 hours or more prior to the start of their fourth year are eligible to receive $6,500 for that academic year (paid as $3,250 in the fall semester and $3,250 in the spring semester.
