Gesa offers scholarships in the following four categories:
- High School Credit Union
- Entering Freshman
- Continued Education
- Loan Repayment

High School Credit Union Scholarships
Gesa offers a total of $80,000 to high school seniors who have participated in Gesa’s High School Credit Union program. The High School Credit Union scholarships will be awarded to both Gesa’s High School Interns and Student Tellers. High School Interns who complete their internship year are guaranteed a minimum $2,000 scholarship, and one intern will receive the $8,000 President’s Award Scholarship, selected by Gesa’s President and CEO. The remaining High School Credit Union scholarship funds will be allocated to Student Tellers. Individual dollars awarded are dependent on the number of applications received. ENTERING FRESHMAN ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ($2,000 Award)
To be eligible for a Gesa scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicant must be a member of Gesa in good standing and a primary signer on their account.
2. Applicant must be a full-time high school senior or other person entering their freshman year of college.
3. Applicant must enroll in an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school in the United States as a full-time student.
4. Applicant must have, or have had, an overall high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater or successfully completed a home-schooling program with the equivalent of a high school diploma.
ADDITIONAL ENTERING FRESHMAN ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT ($5,000 Award)
1. To be considered for Gesa’s $5,000 President’s Award scholarship, applicants must enroll in an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school in the United States as a full-time student.
CONTINUED EDUCATION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ($2,000 Award)
To be eligible for a Gesa scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicant must be a member of Gesa in good standing and a primary signer on their account.
2. Applicant must be a person entering a second or another year of college or technical/trade school.
3. Applicant must enroll in an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school in the United States as a full-time student.
4. Applicant must have or have had, an overall college/university grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater.
ADDITIONAL CONTINUED EDUCATION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ($5,000 Award)
1. To be considered for Gesa’s $5,000 President’s Award scholarship, applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school in the United States.
STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ($2,000 Award)
To be eligible for a Gesa scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicant must be a member of Gesa in good standing and a primary signer on their account.
2. Applicant must have completed their degree from an accredited college, university, or technical/trade school in the United States and provide proof of degree completion (i.e. copy of transcript(s) or diploma).
3. Applicant must provide their latest loan statement (current monthly statement) as proof of loan balance. This must be provided only if selected for an award and is not required on the application.
4. Applicant must be in good standing with their loan servicer. This includes active repayment as well as approved forbearance or deferment programs. Loans in default will not apply.

APPLICATION
Scholarship applications must be received no later than February 28 of each year. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Scholarship packages must include the following:
1. Completed Gesa Credit Union online scholarship application
2. Personal statement addressing education received, how this degree has influenced your career, financial need, volunteer efforts, and other information the committee might find valuable
3. Completed resume
4. Unofficial college or high school transcript(s) - excluding Loan Repayment applicants
5. Photocopy of completed degree - Loan Repayment applicants only
6. Two letters of recommendation from school officials, current/past employers, professional connections, mentors, or coaches. Letters must be submitted within the online application. If recommenders are requiring that they submit their letter directly to Gesa, they must be emailed to scholarships@gesa.com in Word or PDF format no later than February 28 - excluding Loan.
SELECTION
Applicants will be judged on areas such as academic performance, extracurricular activities (school, athletics, or employment), community involvement, volunteering, financial need, and participation in Gesa’s High School Credit Union program (if applicable). Each of the judging categories will carry an equal weight. Applications will be reviewed, and final decisions will be made by Gesa’s Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before May 1st of each year. Winners will be asked to submit an Official School Transcript(s), complete through the latest grading period and other materials upon notification.
