Recognizing Outstanding Seniors in Agronomy, Crop, Soil, & Environmental Sciences

The National Student Recognition Program recognizes outstanding seniors at a four-year institution and second year students at a two-year institution that has an active chapter affiliated with the Students of Agronomy, Soils, and Environmental Sciences (SASES) and is a current member of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and/or Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). The program is supported by the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA and recipients receive a plaque and recognition in the April issue of CSA News.

Nominations are now open for 2015 submissions. Students should be nominated a faculty department representative or club advisor.

2015 Scholarships and Fellowships

Nominations for 2015 Awards, Scholarships and Fellowships will open in February.

We invited self-nominations for undergrad/grad ASA, CSSA, SSSA Scholarships & Fellowships ($135,500 available), and Golden Opportunity Scholars for undergrads.

J. Fielding Reed Scholarship – for students pursuing a career in soil or plant sciences, 2 awards @ $2000

Cross-Cultural Experience Program – for students participating in study-abroad programs, 4 awards @ $3000

Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship – for un­dergraduate student recipients of the National Student Recognition Program pursuing a graduate degree, 3 awards @ $3000

Hubert J. Byrd Sr. Scholarship – for undergraduate students pursuing careers as professional consulting soil scientists, 2 @ $1000

Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship – (April 30 deadline) – pursuing a career in soil and water conservation, 1 award @ $3000

Golden Opportunity Scholars – pairs talented students with mentors to help cultivate networks to develop the necessary workforce to sustain the agronomy, crops, and soils professions. Selected students get all-expenses paid to attend the Annual Meetings including sessions designed specially for them and their mentors.
