The NEEBC Scholarship Program* was established to further the aims of the Council to advance the knowledge and education of individuals in or aspiring a career in the Human Resources, Employee Benefits, and/or Total Rewards field. NEEBC is proud to have contributed $210,000 to our worthy Scholarship Recipients since the Scholarship Program’s inception in 1990.

Scholarship Awards

Scholarships are awarded annually to undergraduate and/or graduate students (part-time or full-time) currently enrolled in an accredited public or private New England college or university, who have completed minimally one semester of classes, and who have demonstrated an interest in Human Resources, Employee Benefits, and/or Total Rewards. Each scholarship is merit-based. Applications are evaluated on the application and corresponding essay, the student’s college GPA and transcript, one or more references, and resume.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following with a postmark no later than April 1, 2025:

  • Completed application
  • Essay
  • Copy of most recent official college transcript and/or unofficial transcripts from a school portal
  • One or more reference(s) from college professors, NEEBC members, or other benefit professionals
  • Resume

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled part-time or full-time in any accredited New England public or private college or university.
  • Minimum college GPA of 3.0. The student must have completed at least one semester of college as of April 1, 2025.
  • The applicant should demonstrate interest in Human Resources, Employee Benefits, and/or Total Rewards, all of which may encompass compensation/underwriting/consulting/retirement planning through their course of study and/or work experience. This list includes but is not limited to: employee/internal communications, compensation or total rewards, retirement strategies, human resources or organizational behavior, ERISA and legal aspects of employee benefits, well-being or work/life programs, health risk management, institutional investing, multiemployer plans, workers compensation, actuarial and underwriting analysis, health care program design, and retirement plan design/implementation or administration.
  • Previous NEEBC scholarship recipients are eligible to apply each year that they continue to attend a school that meets the criteria, as long as the student does not fall into an exclusions category, up to a total of 4 applications.

Eligibility Exclusions

  • Current NEEBC Board and Emeriti members, their spouses, and dependents are not eligible.
  • Students who will graduate prior to July of the current year are not eligible.
  • Students whose tuition for the fall is not payable to an accredited New England college or university are not eligible.
  • Students whose GPA is less than 3.0.
