Step One: Apply for Admission

By submitting a complete application, you will automatically be considered for a scholarship without an additional application. A complete application includes your admissions application and transcript(s). Boise State Admissions must receive all required materials by the deadline listed in Step Two.

Step Two: Meet the Deadline

  • Resident New and Transfer Deadlines
  • Nonresident New and Transfer Deadlines
  • Graduate Deadlines

Recipients of automatic scholarships are notified through their admission letter. Scholarships will be made visible in the Student Center three weeks after an admissions decision has been reached. See the ‘Student Type’ section at the top of this page for scholarship dates and deadlines specific to your student type.

To maximize your opportunities for additional funding, be sure to complete the FAFSA and the Boise State scholarship application. See steps three and four for more information.

Step Three: Complete the FAFSA

The fall priority deadline is February 15 and the spring priority deadline is October 1 for both the FAFSA and Federal Student Aid Estimator.

The last day to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 academic year is June 30, 2025, but the sooner you complete the FAFSA the sooner you will be evaluated for aid. By completing the FAFSA and Boise State Scholarship Application, you can be considered for need-based scholarships and federal financial aid. If you don’t want to be considered for need-based scholarships or federal student aid, proceed to the next step.

Step Four: Complete the Boise State Scholarship Application

Complete the application to maximize your Boise State University scholarship opportunities. Scholarship recipients are notified through BroncoMail and all awards are made by May 1.

The Boise State Scholarship Application opens mid-November and most scholarship opportunities close by February 15.

  • International students should complete the international student scholarship application. See the international student scholarships page for more details.

Step Five: Apply for State Scholarships

  • Nonresidents can skip this step

Next Steps Idaho presents Idaho LAUNCH, an education and training grant program that provides Idaho students a one-time opportunity to have 80% of the tuition and fees covered for select in-demand career programs up to a maximum amount of $8,000.
