The Pediatrics-Adolescent Diabetes Research and Education (PADRE) Foundation Scholarship Program is available to High School Seniors or Incoming Freshmen seeking higher education at an accredited four-year university, college, technical, or trade school. This scholarship recognizes students who are actively involved in the diabetes community, who have high academic performance, who participate in community and/or extra-curricular activities, and who have demonstrated that they are successfully managing the challenges of living with Type 1 diabetes.
The PADRE Foundation Scholarship Program is not based on financial need.

Scholarships for Diabetes Programs and Youth Camps
Scholarships are available for children who would benefit from attending an overnight youth camp focused on diabetes. Awards are granted based on demonstrated financial need, with priority given to first-time campers and to applicants who have been denied financial aid by their local youth camp or program. Applicants must first apply directly to the camp or program; if the camper is denied, contact PADRE to request consideration for a scholarship and to receive and submit the scholarship application. Scholarship Award:
The following scholarship is available to high school seniors with Type 1 diabetes who will be entering their first year of college or post-secondary education in Fall 2026. The PADRE Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 to graduating seniors who are continuing their education while managing life with Type 1 diabetes.
Eligibility:
- High School Seniors with Type 1 diabetes seeking a higher education at an accredited four-year university, community college, technical, or trade school.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Application Process:
- Complete the application along with a Letter(s) of Recommendation, transcript, and photo.
- Completed application must be received in PADRE office by March 27, 2026.
- Applicants will be notified via email when their application is received.
Selection Process:
- Completed applications will undergo a blind process and be sent to a review committee for evaluation.
- Each application will be scored using a grading grid.
- All applications will be subject to an AI detection tool.
Award Announcements:
- The winners of the 2026 scholarships will be telephoned and emailed by Friday, April 17, 2026.
- Those applicants not selected will not receive any other notification.
- Checks will be distributed to the winner by July 2026 to address provided on application.
