IFSEA is dedicated to helping students pursue a career in the food service and hospitality industry. Through our partnership, with the Worthy Goal Scholarship and Kae DeBrent Hodges Fund, IFSEA offers scholarships to high school graduates, undergraduate students, and vocational school students. WORTHY GOAL SCHOLARSHIP
IFSEA Worthy Goal Scholarships are typically awarded in the amounts between $500 to $2500 on an annual basis to students enrolled in an accredited food service/hospitality, or other related degree, at an institution of higher education. The scholarship may be used for the purpose of paying tuition and other mandatory fees related to pursuing an accredited degree in Food Service or Hospitality Management. This scholarship is open to students enrolled or accepted as full-time students at a two or four-year college/university. It is awarded every Spring for the following Fall semester.
Named Scholarships
There are currently 8 scholarships named after those who provided the funds or another entity funded an annual scholarship in their honor. Those are:
- Aloha Hawaii Branch - $2000
- Faulstitch Family - $2000
- South Carolina Palmetto Branch - $2000
- Detroit Branch - $1000
- Dunsmoor Family - $1000
- Guam Branch - $1000
- Lowe Family - $1000
- Reno-Tahoe Branch - $1000
Those scholarships must be given in those amounts. The rest of the funds, usually a total of about $25,000, can be given in any amount as determined by the WG Board.
THE BENEFICIARIES
Annually, IFSEA accepts applications up until March 31st. Selections and presentations are then made at our international conference, and the scholarship awards are forwarded to the appropriate educational institutions earmarked for the specific student. An applicant need not be a member of IFSEA to be considered for a grant.
OUR HISTORY
IFSEA and the Worthy Goal Scholarship Fund have been dedicated to the objective of aiding students and young professionals since the fund was established in 1968. It is governed fairly by six trustees who work as volunteers. This lowers administrative costs, maximizing the funding for scholarships.
