Pomona is situated in between the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire in Los Angeles County, California. As of the year 2005, the population of Pomona was roughly 160,815, making it the fifth largest city in Los Angeles County.

The L.A. County Fair and the NHRA Auto Club Raceway at Pomona are hosted by Fairplex, that is situated within the city. The raceway, that used to be called Pomona Raceway, is the place where the Powerade Winternationals Drag Racing competition is held.

Within Phillips Ranch, there has been rapid expansion that has been occurring. This neighborhood is the newest within Pomona, ever since the 1980's.
