THE SOBEY FOUNDATION
Donald R. Sobey, a Bachelor of Commerce graduate of Queens University (1957) committed $3 million to his alma mater to establish scholarships for Atlantic Canadian students planning to attend Queen's School of Business in Kingston, Ontario. Each year, the D&R Sobey Atlantic Scholarship is awarded to a total of six students entering the Queen's Commerce program from the Atlantic provinces, having been selected by committee in March. The scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence, proven leadership skills and involvement in school and/or community activities during High School. Donald and his son Rob serve as trustees of the fund.
Valued at $14,000 per year, the scholarship is renewable in each of the four years of the B.Comm program, provided the student maintains an academic average of 80%. Since its inception, dozens of Atlantic Canadian students have received this prestigious award.
