THE HARSHMAN FELLOWSHIPS SOCIETY/LA SOCIETE DES BOURSES HARSHMAN

The Harshman Fellowships Society was incorporated in 1954 and is a national charitable organization that invests in the ideals of leadership and responsible citizenship. The Society was founded by Hubert Harshman, the founder of Carlton Cards, who held the view that no young person should be prevented from receiving an education because of financial difficulty. The Society is guided by the principle that investing in a student’s education will develop and expand that student’s overall growth and potential as a Canadian. The purpose of the Society is to ‘provide financial support to deserving students who demonstrate academic potential, and have made significant contributions to community activities. The Society also recognizes the need to nurture the potential of Canada’s indigenous people, a group that traditionally may not have been provided with the same opportunities regarding their education.
