Elementary German 1 - 1st year


An introduction to spoken and written German. Students will learn vocabulary and grammar necessary to communicate in various situations. Topics on culture and contemporary events in regions where German is spoken will form an integral part of this course.



Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

1. Introduce themselves;

2. Give instructions;

3. Provide and receive directions;

4. Address people;

5. Express likes and dislikes;

6. Tell time;

7. Talk about the past;

8. Discuss family and interest;

9. Recognize and use vocabulary needed for situations likely to be encountered by beginning language learners;

10. Demonstrate basic written German language skills;

11. Demonstrate understanding of basic elements of German grammar.
