The small township of Erin, Ontario is situated in the provinces Wellington County. The almost 11,000 inhabitants are located just 80 kilometres northwest of Toronto, Ontario. Erin is an amalgamated town, composed of the former Villages of Hillsburgh and Erin, and the hamlets of Ballinafad, Brisbane, Crewson's Corner, Cedar Valley, and Orton, along with the previous Town of Erin.

The Town of Erin is primarily a rural community but, although farming is still an important activity within the township, the majority of its population works in the surrounding cities of Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph, and even Toronto. The town's new industrial park is attracting some new industries, because of its cheaper tax rate, accessibility to transportation, and its location in the "Technology Triangle," a series of high-tech driven cities like for instance neighboring Waterloo, Cambridge and Kitchener.

The township features numerous cultural features like the Elora Cataract Trailway; and natural features such as the headwaters of the West Credit River and two headwater tributaries of the Grand River. The Township of Erin also has a vital agricultural community and resource-based uses such as recreation and aggregate extraction.

The township of Erin is made up of various smaller communities like for example Binkham, Ballinafad, Brisbane, Cedar Valley, Coningsby, Churchill, Mimosa, Ospringe and Hillsburgh.

The very first non-native settler to the area was Nathaniel Roszel, who was originally from Pennsylvania. In November, he took over the land at Lot 1, Concession 7. On November 11, the year 1821, his son Benjamin, the very first white child was born. It was here the hamlet of Ballinafad sprang up, and here, the Township of Erin started.

The community centre within the township of Erin provides various amenities to the community. Recently a new building was added to the existing centre. Now the facility features the Erin District High School, 300 seat theatre, large double gym, arena, many community rooms, physiotherapist, dentist, Erin Branch of the Wellington Library, daycare, and various other features. Erin Village Alliance Church meets in the Gymnasium on Sunday mornings. It shows the town's commitment to its community working together. Within the walls of Centre 2000 is Erin Cinema, situated within the 300 seat theatre. It shows first run movies and Toronto Film Festival Circuit films during some weekdays and during weekends. Lots of people celebrated Canadians hail from the Town of Erin including successful television and film producer/writer Daniel Vincent Fricker.
