The Rig Technician 2 Program is designed to teach a student how to operate and maintain drilling fluid systems and pumps during drilling, mix fluid chemicals and additives, handle sections of drill string assembly from a platform on the rig derrick during tripping operations, and monitor and record mud flows and volumes.

The Rig Technician 2 Program can usually be completed in 1 year with approx. 4 weeks of the program designated to in-class study modules. After graduation, the Rig Technician 2 can expect to work under the direction of the Oil and Gas Rig Technician and assist with crew supervision, ensuring the crew works safely and efficiently.
