Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

The College was originally located at the old residential school on Crescent Road West in Portage La Prairie. In 2,000 it moved to Portage Avenue in Winnipeg and moved to its current location on Assiniboine Avenue to better accommodate its students. The College provides various workshops at the Winnipeg campus or at their onsite communities. The workshops topics include: Nutrition and Diabetes for Home Care Clients Workshop, Team Building - The Fish Way, Home Care/Health Nutritional Care, Who Moved My Cheese? (Managing Change), Interpersonal Communication, Stress Management, Time Management, Financial Management, Fiscal Planning Cycles, Community Program Evaluation, Legal Basis for Inherent & Treaty Rights, Computer Workshops, Proposal Writing, Report Writing, Conflict Management & Negotiation, Board Training & Development, Effective Meetings, Management - Roles & Functions, Leadership Roles, Early Years Training, Human Resource Management, Case Management, Networking & Marketing for Successful Programs, Community Health Planning, Family Violence, Basic Counseling Skills, and Early Years. Student Services and Student Life

The official colors of the College are yellow and blue. Apart from the College’s basic services, Yellowquill also offers students who have good attendance working computers. The College also holds contests to students, such as writing contests and other competitive events.

Academic Programs

Yellowquill College offers the following programs: Professional development and work related training; Native Economic Development, Secretarial, Office Technology, Pre-Electrical, Clerical, Small Business Management, Business Administration, Child Care, and Administrative Assistant to directly prepare students for the workforce; Mature Grade 12; First Nations Child and Family Services Worker Diploma Program through a partnership between Dakota Ojibway Child and Family Services and Yellowquill College; First Nation Governance; Diabetes Prevention Worker; Community Management; College and University Entrance Preparation Programs (UCEP); Business Certificate Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation (Yellowquill College), which works towards a Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation, and a Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree (University of Calgary); and Adult Upgrading - Community literacy programs that give basic skills to students in several First Nation communities.
