The UCW campus is located at Suite 100 - 626 West Pender Street in downtown Vancouver. Steps from the Burrard skytrain station, the campus is easily accessible by transit, and is within short walking distance to various restaurants and cafés. Students also have full access to an on-campus student lounge, computer lab and library.
Various support services are made available to students including writing and numeracy coaching, academic advising, and career services. Workshops and seminars are hosted throughout year by industry experts, and through the Student Committee, students are invited to participate in events including holiday parties, end of term socials, movie nights and more.
Extensive services are also available from the UCW library. While UCW’s physical library is located at the downtown Vancouver campus, students have 24/7 access to all library resources online. Library services include workshops and training sessions, tutoring services, printing and scanning services, access to quiet study space, and access to daily national newspapers and an assortment of academic journals and periodical subscriptions.
MyUCW is the course delivery and development platform available to all students and alumni. It’s also the main communication tool for the University. Here students can send and receive emails, organize work schedules, monitor their academic progress, track course history, and connect with other students.
University Canada West currently offers three degrees: A Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a Masters in Business Administration. With flexible on-campus and online study options, students are able to choose the learning model that’s right for them.
University Canada West does not provide on-campus accommodations; however, residential accommodation in the community can be found prior to arriving in Vancouver through property rental information websites. As the rental market in Vancouver is very competitive, students should arrange to view more than one prospective rental unit, as these can be booked up rather quickly. Homestay options are also available for international students.
Vancouver is a coastal city and major seaport, located on the mainland of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. The current population of the city of Vancouver is roughly 600,000. Vancouver is consistently ranked one of the three most livable cities in the world. According to a 2007 report by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Vancouver tied with Vienna as having the third highest quality of living in the world, after Zurich and Geneva.
Vancouver is a growing hotbed for arts and culture. Featuring Prominent theatre companies, such as the Arts Club Theatre Company on Granville Island, the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company, and Bard on the Beach. Smaller companies include Touchstone Theatre, Studio 58, Carousel Theatre, and the United Players of Vancouver. Theatre Under the Stars produces shows in the summer at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. In addition, Vancouver holds an annual Fringe Festival and International Film Festival.
