Maskwachees Cultural College


Maskwachees Cultural College was established in 1974 as a Cultural Centre by the Cultural/Educational Centres Program of Indian Affairs Canada. It was formally created by the Four Bands of Hobbema, and it focused more on maintaining the historical record of Plains Cree culture and history. Maskwachees also became a support centre for the Cree Language development and teaching in the community.

Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

The College is located in Hobbema, Alberta, and its facilities include: Audio-visual Production Services, Conference and Workshop Development, Curriculum Development, Cultural Development, Research and Development Office, Student Canteen, 2 Computer labs (Windows Platform), and Library (Video Library, Archives, and History & Culture).

Academic Programs

The College offers the following programs to students: Universities Studies Program (Diploma leading to Bachelor of Education, Diploma leading to Bachelor of Arts, First Nations Management Diploma, and Indigenous Social Work Diploma); College Track Program (Educational Assistant (Special Needs), Maskwachees Administrative Assistant, and Cree Language Instructor Training Diploma); and Upgrading Program (Program Information)
