IFT Junior and Senior Scholarships

Scholarship Value: $2,500
Awards Available: 40

The Junior/Senior Scholarship program encourages and supports outstanding undergraduate students to continue to pursue a curriculum leading to a B.S. in an IFT-approved food science and technology program. See the list of Approved Programs.

A sophomore, junior, or senior with a 3.0 GPA or above, pursuing a curriculum in food science or food technology in an educational institution having an IFT approved degree program is eligible to apply for an IFT scholarship. (for the purposes of this document, approved program means the program meets the "IFT Undergraduate Education Standards for Degrees in Food Science," as determined by the Committee on Higher Education)

Students planning to transfer to a school having an IFT Approved program to complete their Food Science or Food Technology degree must do so by the effective date of the scholarship.

A scholarship award winner that withdraws from school, graduates early or transfers to another major during tenure of the scholarship award, must forfeit their scholarship. The balance of the scholarship will revert to the general fund of Feeding Tomorrow or will be returned to the donor at the discretion of the donor.

There are no scholarship renewals. Current scholarship holders must re‑apply the following year on the same basis as new applicants. All IFT Scholarship Award recipients must be an IFT student association (IFTSA) member to qualify for a scholarship award.

The following information must be included in the application:

1. Name, school address, home address, email and telephone number(s).

2. Degree and date degree is expected. Department and institution where study will be conducted.

3. Statement outlining student's career objectives.

4. List of extracurricular activities and hobbies.

5. List of awards, honors, and scholarships received.

6. Summary of work experience.

7. An official transcript of all college level courses completed must be included with the Junior/Senior application.

8. One letter of recommendation from a faculty member who is familiar with the applicant. The letter should emphasize the applicant’s capabilities with respect to the purpose and eligibility requirements of the scholarship.
