The annual Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship program is an exciting opportunity for local high school seniors to have a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship toward their college education.
The firm will be awarding a total of $37,500 in college scholarships to 15 high school seniors who reside and attend schools in counties served by the firm, including: Mecklenburg, Gaston, Catawba, Union (NC), Cabarrus, Cleveland, Lincoln, Rowan, Caldwell, Stanly, Iredell, Alexander, Burke, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Anson, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Chester, Union (SC), Cherokee, Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon.
When the scholarship program began in 2003, the personal injury law firm awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Mecklenburg County seniors who wrote essays on how the community could help curb underage drinking and driving.
Over the past decade, the program has grown to include 15 winners across 26 counties who each receive a $2,500 scholarship.
To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and must complete and return a scholarship application to DeMayo Law Offices, L.L.P. by the announced deadline. Scholarships will be awarded based on the student's video PSA presentation, as well as their application, SAT scores, transcripts and letters of recommendation.
