The Dorrance Scholarship is a need-based award that aims to instill college-going traditions in future generations of Arizona families, to provide financial access and academic support for recipients, and to enhance college persistence through unique enrichment experiences.
Paying for College
The program includes a $12,000 scholarship per academic year for four years. The total program is valued at over $100,000.
Succeeding Academically
Recipients attend an Orientation and a Summer Bridge experience to prepare for college academics. A dedicated advisor meets with students regularly and tutoring is available when needed.
Building Camaraderie
International travel, an innovation experience, and cultural enrichment events are designed to help round out the college experience.
Eligibility Requirements
The award is renewable for a total of four academic years (eight semesters) of funding. Scholarships are renewed based on academic standing and participation in program activities.

The 2024 application is now open! Applicants will submit their online form via Survey Monkey by Wednesday, January 31st at 4:59 p.m. (Arizona Standard Time).
Recommenders
Counselors are one of the main sources for high school students to learn about the scholarship. Often the counselor’s encouragement is what motivates students to apply.
Eligibility to Apply
You may be eligible if you:
- Are an Arizona resident
- Are a current graduating senior attending a public, private, charter, or home school
- Will be a first-generation college student (neither parent, stepparent, or legal guardian holds a four-year degree from any country)
- Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA (weighted or unweighted)
- Have a minimum test score of 1110 SAT, 22 ACT, or 72 CLT
- Demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA
- Plan to attend ASU-Tempe, NAU-Flagstaff, UA-Tucson
- Agree to live in on-campus housing during freshman and sophomore year
Eligibility for Award
Recipients of the award will:
- Sign the Scholar Participation Agreement
- Agree to participate in all aspects of the program and be eligible to travel internationally
- Attend the Dorrance New Scholar Orientation
- Successfully complete the Dorrance Summer Bridge Program
Renewal Criteria
Current scholars will:
- Attend all Program meetings and events
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA
- Study full-time
- Perform volunteer service
- Submit a year-end report
- Complete the FAFSA annually
