National Scholarships

Awards Available: 5

In order to qualify, a student must be a Canadian citizen and must meet one of the following requirements:

1. Have satisfactorily completed at least one year of a recognized university degree course in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering prior to enrolling for a change to a degree in Naval Architecture

2. Have been enrolled and satisfactorily completed not less than two years of a higher technical college course in Naval Architecture, prior to enrolling in a degree course in Naval Architecture

3. Have satisfactorily completed an undergraduate degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering, and be enrolled for a post-graduate degree in Naval Architecture

4. Be a graduate of a recognized Marine College and be enrolled in a university degree course in Marine Engineering

5. Have a First Class Certificate of Competency as a Marine Engineer recognized by
Transport Canada and be enrolled in Marine Engineering

6. Have a Department of National Defense - Naval Engineering Certificate and be enrolled in a university degree course in Marine Engineering

7. Have a recognized university degree in Marine Engineering and be enrolled in a post-graduate university degree course in Marine Engineering.

The award value of each scholarship is $1,000.00 The scholarship will be announced once a year, and will be payable towards the cost of tuition fees only. Applications should be submitted by September 15, 2012. The applicant should include the following information in support of their application:

1. Full name and mailing address

2. Date of birth and proof of Canadian citizenship

3. History of previous education and copies of record of academic achievement

4. Description of applicant's area of interest and career objective in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering

5. University to which application has been filed for the coming year

6. Statement of annual fees for courses in which applicant is or will be enrolled

7. Letters of Reference from not less than two persons in the marine industry, or from academic sources

8. Description of present sources of funding for study programs, and a complete list of any and all other scholarships currently being received in the coming academic year.
