Ontario Power Generation sponsors up to two awards annually, one female and one male. The Award is valued at $3,000 for College recipients and $5,000 for University recipients. All Ontario residents who are First Nations, Inuit or Métis, and enrolled in a full-time post secondary institution in Ontario are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants from Ontario communities.
Eligibility Criteria
A) Full-time student at an accredited university or community college in Ontario in Engineering/Technology (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Nuclear, Environmental), Computer Science, Law, Environmental Studies, Business, Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology, Trades, Indigenous Studies, or other disciplines relevant to OPG’s business.
B) In good academic standing (minimum B average).
C) Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication skills.
D) Demonstrated leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular community/campus activities, including volunteer work.
E) Be First Nations, Inuit, or Métis with proof of ancestry as issued by the Government of Canada.
F) Be a resident of Ontario and attend college/university in Ontario.
G) Be legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation and demonstrate an interest in working for OPG.
Application Procedure
A) Deadline for applications to the John Wesley Beaver Memorial Award is May 15th.
B) Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
