The Prince of Wales College Scholarship is awarded to the student entering UPEI from a PEI high school who has been judged by the Scholarship Committee to best exemplify PWC's tradition of excellence. The recipient must maintain an average of at least 80% or higher each year in order for the scholarship to be renewed.
The story of Prince of Wales College (PWC) dates back to 1804, when Edmund Fanning, the Island's second Lieutenant-Governor, granted two blocks of his own land to the Crown, as a site "for the purpose of laying the foundation of a College for the education of youth in the learned languages, the arts and sciences, and all the branches of useful and polite literature." The Prince of Wales College Alumni Association has established a generous endowment fund at UPEI to support an award for a student who best exemplifies PWC's tradition of excellence.
