Awarded to a first-year student who is entering Nursing.

Background:

This scholarship program was established at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2001 by Joseph Buist to create a legacy in honour of his wife, Marilyn, who died June 11, 1989. Marilyn Buist was a fifth generation Canadian, born in Toronto in 1935. Throughout her career as an instructor and administrator at the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing, Marilyn Buist's contributions as a gifted teacher and a wise counselor were highly valued by her students and colleagues. Jose ph and Marilyn Buist's love of learning and dedication to higher education will be continued through their support of deserving students at the University of Prince Edward Island.
