Julian Jaynes (1920-1997) was born in Massachusetts, did his undergraduate work at Harvard and McGill andreceived both his master's and doctoral degrees in psychology from Yale. Julian Jaynes was a popular teacherand he lectured in the Psychology Department at Princeton University from 1966 to 1990 and was a visitinglecturer to UPEI in the summers. Julian Jaynes was an associate editor of the internationally renowned journal Behavioural and Brain Scienceand on the editorial board of the Journal of Mind and Behavior. His publications are numerous. The Dr. Julian Jaynes scholarships have been established at UPEI through a generous donation from the JulianJaynes Memorial Trust to create a lasting memorial to a renowned psychologist, author, and teacher, in tributeto his achievements and in respect of his wish to support and encourage young people in the study ofpsychology.
