Among the entrance scholarships offered by the University of Manitoba, $1,000.00 is reserved for a student from each high school in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario, which prepares students for entrance to the University of Manitoba. The selection of the recipient rests with the high school. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Mr. Charles Gray Chown.
Each high school is asked to nominate its best “all around” graduate, according to criteria established by each school.
The Chown Centennial Entrance Scholarship may be held with any other entrance scholarship offered by the University of Manitoba.
To qualify for a Chown Centennial Entrance Scholarship a student must:
- complete with high standing (minimum of 85% or comparable standing on the evaluation scale used by the school) a high school program that makes the student eligible to enter a University 1 or any direct entry program of the University ;
- register by September immediately following for a full-time course load (24 credit hours) in University 1 or any direct entry program at the University to which the student has been admitted.
