To meet rising human resource needs in the field of mental health, a scholarship has been established by MindCare New Brunswick in honour of two New Brunswick philanthropists, Janice Franklin and the late Mitchell Franklin.
The goal of the Mitchell and Janice Franklin Scholarship is to foster excellence in mental health care within the Province of New Brunswick by increasing the human resource pool of skilled professionals. This non-renewable award of $2,000 is governed by the following terms of reference and qualifying criteria.
Terms of Reference:
The scholarship is established to assist in training mental health professionals who will practice in New Brunswick. These professionals would include: Medical Doctors, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Nurses and support staff in addiction restraint and in occupational therapy related to mental illness.
Financial assistance would be offered to graduate students showing a positive and direct interest in offering their services to mental health care and development in New Brunswick. Assistance would help pay for university courses and related expenses.
Qualifying Criteria:
1. Applicants shall have New Brunswick roots, ideally shown by residence in the Province prior to attending university.
2. Applicants shall have completed a degree at university.
3. Applicants shall have a commitment to mental health care in the Province of New Brunswick.
Deadline:
The closing date for submission of application forms for this scholarship, along with all relevant supporting documentation required by the MindCare Committee, will be May 1st of each year.
