The CIM Foundation (CIMF) is committed to ensuring a strong future for the mining and metallurgical industries through incentives to support and promote education. In an effort to encourage young people to pursue careers in mining and related industries, CIMF is offering the Scotiabank Scholarship.
The CIMF is offering one $2,000 award to an outstanding undergraduate student in the fields of exploration and geology in Canada. Applications must be submitted by April 15. The scholarship recipient will be announced in July and the scholarship will be awarded in September providing the candidate remains active and enrolled in their faculty's mining program.
The CIMF finances the educational initiatives of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), Canada's leading professional association for the mining, minerals and energy industries. CIM has over 14,000 national members, 10 technical societies and 35 branches across the country.
Eligibility
The recipient will be selected on the basis of eligibility and must be enrolled full-time and currently completing their third year of an eligible undergraduate Canadian university program.
Qualifications
Applicants will be judged on academic achievement and a commitment to a career in the mining, minerals or energy industries.
Application Requirements
Complete application packages must be submitted by April 15 and include:
A) The application form
B) Letter of support from a professor
C) Essay describing how you are preparing yourself for a career in the mining, minerals or energy industries (maximum 400 words)
D) Resume
E) An official, sealed copy of your current academic transcript
