The Lux Law Firm and its principal owner, Austin Lux, a prominent Colorado Springs criminal defense attorney and former state prosecutor, announces its annual scholarship program. Austin and his legal team want to know how you would reform some of your state's criminal laws. The Lux Law Firm will grant a $1,000 scholarship to the student who submits the winning essay.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM ESSAY REQUIREMENTS
Austin Lux and his legal team want to know your opinion and how you would reform some of your state's criminal laws. The winner of the Lux Law Firm Scholarship Essay Contest will receive $1,000 to put toward their education.
Students must address both prompts in this two-part essay.
First, we would like you to discuss your opinion about one of the following in your state:
A) The DUI/DWI laws;
B) The drug laws; or
C) The law of expungement or sealing of a criminal record.
Second, we want to know:
How you would change the law you chose to make it more effective and why?
Your essay should be at least 500, but no more than 600, words.
We will select the winner based on several criteria, including persuasiveness, demonstrated understanding of the issues, and quality.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LUX LAW FIRM SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
High school seniors who will graduate from high school in 2021 and have been accepted to a college or university, and students currently enrolled in a college or university for the fall semester of 2021, are eligible to apply.
