Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $1,500
Awards Available: 65
Award Deadline: June 2, 2021

By assisting young people in their pursuit of a college or university education in agriculture or food, we are investing in their future careers and in the future of agriculture and food production in Canada.

Bayer is Helping Build Careers

The Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is available to Canadian high school students who are enrolled in their final year of high school as of June 2, 2021 and eligible to graduate from high school in 2021. Those eligible for a scholarship must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post‑secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture, food science or culinary program.

If you have applied for entry into a college or university, but have not yet been accepted, you can still apply for a Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship. However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you must provide an acceptance letter from your educational institution.

Successful applicants will each be awarded a scholarship valued at $1,500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community. Selection will be made by an independent panel.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must:

A) Have Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status in Canada as of the application deadline date. Be planning to enter in full time studies in a first-year bachelor degree or diploma program.

B) There is no minimum cumulative average required*. Non-academic courses such as career or personal development related courses will not be considered. *Universities Canada's policy on calculation of average has been developed in consultation with university and college admissions and financial aid officers from across the country. There is enormous diversity among the applicants for this scholarship program. The applicants come from different geographical regions and have reached various levels of studies. Furthermore, and of great significance, is the fact that grading systems differ among educational institutions. It is Universities Canada's policy to calculate the academic average of applicants so that it reflects an academically well-rounded individual, while recognizing the differences in the programs of study. For this purpose, the most recent, followed by the highest available grades of four courses will be considered. In the case of high school transcripts, the following categories will be considered: Language, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Sciences. Six courses are chosen for each applicant, with no more than two in each category. If there are not enough available courses, the calculation of academic average may be based on four or five courses.
