Stantec and the CIM Foundation (CIMF) are committed to ensuring a strong future for the mining and minerals industries through incentives to support and promote education. To encourage students to pursue a career in mining engineering, CIMF is offering the Stantec Mining Engineering Scholarship.
The CIMF is offering one $2,000 award to an outstanding second year undergraduate student in the field of mining engineering in Canada. Applications must be submitted by October 15. The scholarship recipient will be announced in December.
The CIMF provides educational material and supports educational initiatives of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), Canada's leading professional association for the mining, minerals and energy industries. CIM has over 11,000 members, 10 technical societies and 29 branches across the country.
Recipient who is a permanent resident of Canada is selected on the basis of eligibility and must be enrolled full time in their second year of an eligible undergraduate degree program.
Applicants will be judged on academic achievement and a commitment to a career in mining engineering.
Complete application packages must be submitted by October 15 and include:
A) Application form
B) A transcript of your previous year's academic studies
C) Confirmation of enrollment in a mining engineering or minerals program (photo of your student ID)
D) Essay describing what attracted you to the mining industry and what you will do to advance the industry in the future (maximum 400 words)
