GBHEM Scholarships

GBHEM Scholarships administers over 70 scholarship programs with one general application. Criteria for each scholarship program vary; however, there are minimum requirements that apply for general eligibility consideration.

Students who are United States citizens or permanent residents, or who are Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) persons shall follow the Domestic Applicant Minimum Scholarship Requirements.

DOMESTIC APPLICANT MINIMUM SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

A) Applicant must be an ACTIVE, full member of The United Methodist Church for at least ONE year. Membership is determined by the date the applicant was confirmed and took membership vows with a United Methodist church (Members of other Methodist denominations are not eligible).

B) Applicants must be pursuing a degree program at ANY accredited institution within the U.S.

C) High school students may apply IF they will be college students in the fall term.

D) Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

E) Applicants are required to be full-time students according to their school's standards for the program for which they are enrolled.

F) A student may receive GBHEM scholarships for up to 7 award years maximum. Renewal applicants will not be considered for an 8th academic year for GBHEM scholarship.


INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT MINIMUM SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

A) Students who are members from one of the United Methodist Central Conferences and who are citizens from a country other than the United States shall follow the International Applicant Minimum Scholarship Requirements.

B) Applicant must be an ACTIVE, full member of The United Methodist Church for at least THREE years. Membership is determined by the date the applicant was confirmed and took membership vows with a United Methodist church (Members of other Methodist denominations are not eligible).

C) Applicants must be pursuing a degree program at ANY United Methodist related institution within the U.S.

D) High school students may apply IF they will be college students in the fall term.

E) Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

F) Applicants are required to be full-time students according to their school's standards for the program for which they are enrolled.
