In December 2008, the Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia partnered with the York Foundation for Public Education, Inc. to administer the Michael J. Tylavsky, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, named for the former Principal of Tabb High School. High school seniors from Bruton High School, Grafton High School, Tabb High School, York High School and York River Academy are eligible to apply for the non-renewable $500 award.
