The mission of The Educational Foundation of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. (Foundation) is to encourage the best and the brightest individuals in Georgia to become Certified Public Accountants.
The objectives of the Foundation, to accomplish its mission, are as follows:
A) Inform individuals about the breadth of opportunities provided by the CPA profession
B) Provide financial incentives to individuals seeking to enter the CPA profession
C) Provide financial support to schools or educators at Georgia educational institutions that are educating individuals to enter the CPA profession
D) Recognize excellence demonstrated by accounting students and educators in Georgia
E) Raise funds to support programs
An eligible applicant must:
A) Demonstrate commitment to pursuing a career in accounting;
B) Be a resident of the state of Georgia;
C) Be a U.S. citizen or eligible Permanent Resident Alien;
D) Intend to remain a resident of the state of Georgia;
E) Be a rising junior or senior undergraduate accounting major or person having a concentration in Accounting or a graduate student enrolled in a masters' level accounting or business administration program at a public or private college or university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools;
F) Be enrolled in a minimum of six semester hours (ten quarter hours) beyond the sophomore level during the period scholarship funds are to be used;
G) Maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) OR an accounting GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
