The Ortega Foundation established the Ortega Foundation Scholarship Program in honor of its founder Jose Antonio Ortega, Sr. Jose Antonio believed strongly in giving academically accomplished individuals the opportunity to pursue a college education. Scholarships are awarded to Miami-Dade County high school seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above. The Ortega Foundation will award up to $7,000 a year for a four-year scholarship.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted online by Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 4 p.m. Applicants must submit an application through the Foundation's online grants application portal. To access the online portal, please visit the Scholarships page on our website and carefully review the registration instructions.
If an application is missing information, our office will not inform the applicant nor review the application. Mailed, faxed or emailed applications will not be accepted.
Eligibility
In order to qualify, applicants must:
A) Be a resident of Miami-Dade County
B) Be a high school senior graduating in May or June 2019
C) Be able to produce documentation that shows your residency status
D) Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on 4.0 Scale)
Selection Criteria
A Scholarship Advisory Committee will review and rate the applications and make final decisions on scholarship awards. The following criteria will be considered in evaluating applicants:

D) Letters of Recommendation
