The personal injury lawyers at the Warshauer Law Group are committed to equality in the courtroom. For that reason, we are excited to announce that our Social Biases in the Courtroom Scholarship will be returning for 2020!
According to The Expert Institute, 83% of expert witnesses in the courtroom are male. Our own, Lyle Warshauer, has recognized that in more than ten years of courtroom practice she has never seen a female expert witness in the courtroom. The observation highlights a shocking social issue. Female expert witnesses receive 40% less compensation than their male counterparts even with similar experience. This problem shows a clear double standard in the legal industry when it comes to equal opportunity.
The Warshauer Law Group has established a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to support students with an interest in promoting equality and reducing the gender gap.
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the Social Biases in the Courtroom Scholarship, applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. They also must show excellent academic standing with at least a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship recipient will have shown their interest in reducing social biases in the courtroom.

D) A 1,000 word essay discussing the types of social biases exhibited in the courtroom. The essay will create an awareness campaign that addresses these biases and suggests legislative action to prevent biases from entering the courtroom.
