The JCREMC Academic Scholarship Program exists to encourage graduating high school seniors to pursue further education and career training, while also raising awareness of the importance of the cooperative business model. Each year, JCREMC awards two academic scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to local high school seniors whose parents or guardians are JCREMC members, and who will attend an in-state college, university, or trade school after graduation.

The applications for the 2024 JCREMC Academic Scholarship is now open. Read on to learn more about the application process.

Students may apply for the scholarship online or in hard copy. Applicant must submit the following four items for the application to be considered complete:

  1. Official Application
    • Electronic Version
    • Downloadable PDF for Print Version
  2. Essay
  3. Statement of Applicant form
  4. Transcript

The application deadline is February 1, 2024. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all four required parts of the application are submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications cannot be considered for scholarship awards. Please read the rules and regulations carefully.

Rules and Regulations

The following provisions will govern eligibility for the JCREMC scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be a son, daughter, or legal ward of a JCREMC member.
  2. Applicant must be a high school senior who has the required basic credits for college or trade school and plans to attend an Indiana college, university, or trade school in 2024.
  3. Applicant must possess a current grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Application for this scholarship must be submitted either electronically via the JCREMC website or in hard copy downloaded from the JCREMC website. All application materials must be delivered to the JCREMC offices or postmarked no later than the published deadline.
  5. Applicant must submit an essay in response to the following topic relating to JCREMC’s mission. Essays may be submitted electronically as an attachment on the electronic application form or in hard copy delivered or postmarked no later than the published deadline.

Essay Criteria

Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words.

**Essays must cite any sources used. Please be sure your name is on your essay before uploading or submitting.

Awards Selection

A Scholarship Selection Committee consisting of JCREMC staff will select the winners, then present them to the JCREMC Board of Directors for final approval. Applicant names and identifying information will be redacted by the non-voting scholarship administrator prior to judging.

Award Presentation

Scholarship winners will be notified in mid-March 2024. Winners will be recognized at the JCREMC Annual Meeting in April 2024 at the Franklin Performing Arts Center.

Funds Disbursement

Disbursement of each $2,000 award will be made directly to the awardee’s institution upon enrollment. An official enrollment verification is required to process the disbursement.
