1. The Fort Bend County Fair will provide forty-two (42) $3,000 scholarships. Applicants must be a US Citizen and a resident of Fort Bend County or zoned to a school in Fort Bend County.
2. Candidates must be a high school senior and graduate by the spring semester of 2016. Candidates other than vocational must be planning to attend a Texas college/university. (A United States Military Academy can be a substitute for a Texas College/university.) Only students who have received and completed a prior scholarship in 2015 from the Fort Bend County Fair Association may reapply. No more than 2 scholarships will be awarded to a student.
3. Candidates must choose one type of scholarship they wish to apply for.
A. Restrictive-16 of these scholarships will be awarded. Candidates must have been involved in 4-H and/or FFA or FCCLA and have exhibited at the Fort Bend County Fair. They must also pursue a major leading to a Bachelors Degree in agricultural fields or home economics including but not limited to biomedical science, horticulture, agronomy etc. Recipients of the restrictive scholarship must continue to take Agricultural related or Home Economics related courses in order to receive scholarship payments under this scholarship program.
B. Non-Restrictive-16 of these scholarships will be awarded. Candidates must have been involved in 4-H and/or FFA or FCCLA and exhibited at the Fort Bend County Fair. No restrictions as to major or field of study, but must lead to a Bachelor's Degree.
C. Open-7 of these scholarships will be awarded. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have participated in some manner at the Fort Bend County Fair (i.e. Parade, Talent Contest, Open Youth etc.). No restrictions in course of study.
D. Art-1 of these scholarships will be awarded. Candidates must have participated in the School Art Auction program at the Fort Bend County Fair at least one year.
E. Vocational-2 of these scholarships will be awarded. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have participated in some manner at the Fort Bend County Fair (i.e. Parade, Talent Contest, Open Youth etc.). No restrictions in course of study. The student must be pursuing a certificate from a recognized institution that prepares a student for semi-professional or technical employment. A course outline for the certification must be presented with proof of registration.
