The Pittsburgh Petroleum Section board has decided to award $30,000 in scholarship funds for each of the next fours years (2014-2017). 12 recipients will be chosen annually, each receiving a scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00.
Ten of the recipients will be SPE student section members who apply for the scholarship. The remaining two recipients are reserved for the dependents of SPE professional members in the Pittsburgh Section; the applicants for the dependent scholarships can have any major (does not have to be related to the oil and gas industry).
Apply for the general scholarship, a student must meet the following requirements:
A) Be a SPE member
B) Be a full-time undergraduate student
C) Must have at least one semester (fall) remaining before graduation
D) Be enrolled in petroleum and natural gas engineering or related engineering program at an institution in Pennsylvania with GPA above 3.3
E) Plan to work in the petroleum industry. Preference will be given to students with strong backgrounds in petroleum related studies and those whom have demonstrated serious commitment to petroleum engineering
