Family, Career and Community Leaders of America awards ten scholarships to outstanding members in Texas. The scholarship is $2,250 per semester and will be continued for eight semesters if the recipient continues to be qualified under the rules regulated by the scholarship. Recipients must attend the Texas FCCLA State Leadership Conference held in the spring to accept their scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to an alternate in the event the recipient does not attend.
Applications should be completed in full and returned to the Association, which will carry out the application process, evaluation procedure and determination of recipients of the ten scholarships awarded.
To be eligible a student must:
A) Be a resident of the state of Texas
B) Be a 2019 graduate of a Texas high school
C) Have an overall high school grade average of 85
D) Have been an active member of an affiliated chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America for at least one year.
E) Have completed one or more years of family and consumer sciences in high school
F) Meet entrance requirements of Texas college or university which offers a degree in family and consumer sciences
G) Enroll in a Texas accredited college with a family and consumer sciences department in the fall of 2019
H) MAJOR IN ANY AREA OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES
I) Submit one typed copy of the application form, transcript of grades for last grading period, and two letters of recommendation.
J) Include test scores of American College Testing (ACT) and/or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
K) Include an essay of approximately 200 words on a topic- "How has FCCLA and your family and consumer science classes prepared you for the future?
