Great Minds in STEM is grateful to have a broad portfolio of industry, government, non-profits and private donors, who are dedicated to supporting the academic pursuits of our nation's underserved STEM students, who merit competitive academics, strong leadership, and commitment to service.
The GMiS Scholars Program awarded its first scholarship in 2000, thanks to the support of the Ford Motor Company. Since its inception, the GMiS Scholars Program has shown tremendous growth and has distributed over $4,200,000 in educational grants to over 1,400 outstanding and deserving recipients.
Basic Scholarship Requirements:
A) Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievements, leadership and campus/community activities
B) Applicants must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering or math degree
C) Applicants must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
D) Applicants must be of Hispanic descent and/or must significantly demonstrate leadership or service within the underserved community
E) Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming fall semester, at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories.
Note: Graduating high school seniors qualify for the scholarship if they will be enrolled as a full-time student, in a science, technology, engineering or math field, at an accredited college/university, in the U.S. or its territories, in the fall semester immediately following their graduation. Enrollment verification in a STEM field of study is required the proceeding fall semester.
