ALCOA Fund Scholarship

The ALCOA Fund Scholarship is an award meant to provide support for African American and Hispanic students who are graduates of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or a Catholic school in Greater Cleveland (preferably Cuyahoga County).

Eligibility:

  • African American or Hispanic student who is a graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or a Catholic school in Greater Cleveland (preferably Cuyahoga County)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Enrolled in or currently attending an accredited nonprofit educational institution within the state of Ohio
  • Enrolled full-time or part-time (minimum of 6 credit hours per term)
  • Financial need
  • Preference for CMSD students who reside in the City of Cleveland

Application Method: Submit a Cleveland Foundation Scholarships General Application online.

Selection Process: Selection decisions will be based on eligibility and completed application requirements with regard to the stated purpose and desired criteria for award of this scholarship.

Award Info: The award amount will be determined by the available funds and the number of applicants selected. Previous awards have ranged from $2,000-$5,000. Formal notification of award will be made by College Now to the selected recipient(s). Awards will be paid to the institution and must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for coursework.

Awarded Student Requirements:

  1. Maintain full-time enrollment status (unless awarded for part-time)
  2. Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA

Renewal: This award has historically been renewable for a maximum of 4 total years support provided the student meets the scholarship requirements and funding remains available.
