A graduate of Thornapple Kellogg High School, Montague Myers attended design schools in Detroit and Los Angeles. He owned interior design studios in Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne, Indiana and was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. This scholarship was established in Myer's memory in 1996 to provide financial assistance to individuals who have been orphaned, abused, abandoned or neglected as children, and who desire to pursue education beyond high school.

Kalamazoo County resident while attending high school or a student enrolled in or graduated from a high school within Kalamazoo County.
