What is the scope of practice for a Physicians Assistant?


PAs are medical professionals. They typically obtain medical histories, perform examinations and procedures, order treatments, diagnose illnesses, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic tests, refer patients to specialists as required, and first-assist in surgery. Physician Assistant's scope of practice is spelled out in their PA-Physician practice agreement, and they can not practice in a manner other than prescribed by their supervising physician.
